Mead: What Is This Stuff?

England is not renown for its wines but a year ago we picked this bit of loveliness from the Cheddar countryside.

Ginger mead.

Mead, instead of regular wine, is made from fermented honey instead of grapes. Some wine websites suspect it may be the oldest of alcoholic beverages.

I am not aware of any popular cocktails that mix mead, or in this case ginger mead, but I have a feeling you’re going to be reading about great original recipes later this week!
