Ginger Beard: It’s Not Orange, I Swear
If whisky had a sister, I think it’d be ginger mead. It’s sweet but earthy, and boy does it make a good cocktail too.
Here’s the recipe:
2 shots of ginger mead
1/2 shot of Fireball liqueur blended with cinnamon whisky
1/2 shot of cloudy apple juice
1/4 shot of lemon juice
Shake it all up and pour into a glass. Sprinkle some ground cinnamon on top.
What you taste: Honey and ginger with a slight burn of cinnamon on the back of the throat. You imagine for a moment you’re drinking a straight whisky, then the apple juice sweetness you up. Before you know it, you are taken back down to earth with a slight hint of lemon citrus.
A lovely cocktail but there is no doubt the ginger mead is the real attraction.
