Mint Julep: Ice Is Nice at Coco Momo, Holborn

I missed the Kentucky Derby but that’s not the only time you can pucker your lips and sip one of these.

I tried Coco Momo’s Mint Julep last weekend on a lovely sunny day in Holborn.

What it promises: Woodford Reserve, mint leaves, sugar and soda.

As someone unaccustomed to Bourbon Whiskey, my automatic reaction after the first hit was: It’s gin o’clock! Apart from that confusion, the rest of what I tasted was pretty clear. Primarily it was candied mint, sort of like a Glacier one.

The crushed ice mountain in the glass was a lovely touch too, but getting to the bottom of the drink before it all melts is a race in itself.
